Why Martingale EAs are dangerous on Fridays?

It was a terrible night last night, EUR/USD dropped a lot, but the EA opened 18 Buy orders which almost blew out the account. Is there any way to deal with this situation? Can we control how many orders to open?

Thanks. Is it because the EA opens both Buy & Sell orders simultaneously, they offset each other to some extend, so in one direction it can open upto 45 layers? But if we only allow the EA to open in one direction (e.g., only Buy or only Sell), then it can at most open upto 35 layer (x1.2)?
